Careers Without Borders 2024
Event description
Careers Without Borders gathers panellists from a range of backgrounds and professions here in Aotearoa to provide current students at the Victoria University of Wellington with guidance and insight as to what career paths exist post graduation. Students are invited to attend three sessions of panel discussions, followed by time to network with speakers and peers.

📍 Where: RHLH1, Rutherford House, Pipitea Campus
The event will run as follows:
- 5:30-5:40pm: Opening Remarks
- 5:40-6:10pm: MFAT Panel
- 6:20-6:50pm: Breakout session 1 (students can choose to attend one of 3 panels)
- 7:00-7:30pm: Breakout session 2 (students can choose a second of the 3 panels)
- 7:30-8:00pm: Light Catering and Networking
Following the MFAT panel, the three specialised panels from which students can choose to attend two include: Trade and Commerce, International Development, and Defence and Security.
The following are our confirmed speakers for each panel:
- MFAT: Justin Allen (People Division, formerly posted to Manila and Beijing), Megan Addis (Career Diplomat, recently returning from Brussels) and Poutasi Watson (Trade Policy Engagement and Implementation Team)
- Trade and Commerce: Laura Pattinson (Wellington Chamber of Commerce), Phil Quinn (Treasury, formerly international banker) and Kate Wilson Butler (Chapman Tripp).
- International Development: Kirsty Burnett (Future Partners LTD), Tim Sutton (Union Aid), and Sam London (Council for International Development).
- Defense and Security: Chris Nixon (Ministry of Defence), Jessica Balu (Ministry of Defence), and Steve MacBeth (New Zealand Defence Force).
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
