Event description

Many people feel overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure of how to discuss or react to the increasingly confronting reality of climate change. That's why we invite you to join our Climate Cafe —a facilitated, safe and supportive space for meaningful conversations about climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, climate justice, and the broader impacts of the climate crisis on life in general.

In this space, there are no formal presentations or guest speakers. Instead, it offers the opportunity to express your feelings and connect with others who share your concerns. All emotions are accepted and valued, whether it's laughter, tears, fear, or anger. You can choose to share, listen, or simply enjoy the quiet companionship of others who care. Your presence is what matters most. Please come and join us for an open-hearted conversation.

Facilitators

Facilitator Therese Gerber is a passionate psychology professional committed to empowering people and communities to navigate a changing climate with resilience and compassion. With more than 30 years of experience in facilitating transformative change within organisations, she combines her deep expertise in positive psychology, positive neuroscience, and somatic and embodied leadership. Her lived experiences of climate disaster in the Northern Rivers further fuel her dedication to this vital mission. Therese is a member of Psychology for a Safe Climate and co-facilitates Climate Cafes with other PSC members. She holds a Masters of Applied Positive Psychology and a Graduate Diploma of Psychology.

Co-facilitator Aurora Gyorffy is passionate about cultivating Regenerative Cultures. Aurora facilitates spaces that cultivate connective relationships with our deep core selves, community and country so that we can design with all life. Aurora is completing her Masters in Psychotherapy (Transpersonal Counselling) and has a Bachelors in Environmental Engineering. She also brings experience from Renewable Energy Engineering, ecopsychology education, sustainability leadership, Non-Violent Communication, Possibility Coaching and conflict transformation. Her main focus is to nurture active hope and design within local communities toward an environmentally regenerative, socially just, economically circular and fulfilling human presence with the planet.

Ticket Information

We trust that each individual's circumstances are unique and may even vary from one time to the next. We ask that you consider the value of joining this supportive, 90-minute gathering, and if you can, choose the standard registration fee ($40) or perhaps even the "Pay it forward" option ($60). This buys your ticket and generously contributes towards someone else in financial difficulty being able to attend.

We want everyone to have access to the support they need, so a portion of our tickets is always available on a "Pay Only What You Can" basis. Feel free to choose this option if the cost of attending would otherwise stop you from joining.

Places are limited, so please book your ticket as soon as possible.
