What:
Join us for an inspiring session diving into the heart of Ocean Literacy: what it is, why it matters and how we can bring it to life in our classrooms and communities.
Focusing on Ocean Literacy Principle 4: “The Ocean Makes Earth Habitable,” Sarah-Jo and Jen will unpack how the ocean sustains life on our planet, to help you start planning for SeaWeek 2026.
Whether you’re an educator, communicator, or ocean enthusiast, this session will leave you with practical ideas and renewed appreciation for the ocean’s vital role in our world.
Facilitators:
Sarah-Jo Lobwein is the AAEE Voices of the Waters project officer, and a passionate citizen science education officer. Sarah-Jo also runs a private tuition business, educating primary, secondary and tertiary students in Science, Mathematics, English, Earth and Marine studies.
Voices of the Water is a new AAEE initiative, which is SeaWeek now embedded within, amongst other water related education.
Jen Mather, founder of Randwick Marine Life @Randwickmarinelife
Jen is passionate about raising awareness about Randwick (NSW) marine life. What began as a passion project is now a teaching tool with students/community - one that’s led Jen to record thousands of observations and hundreds of species along our beautiful Randwick coastline.
