Event description

Join Carly Martin, Albury-based architect as we explore the inspirations, aims and development of the current Summer Place pavilion, ‘See the Forest’. Narrating a collection of images, Carly will offer a visual overview and brief history of the ‘pavilion’ as an architectural investigation, contextualising the annual Summer Place project in Albury’s QEII Square.

About Carly

Carly Martin brings over thirteen years of highly awarded practice in Australia. Carly recently established Akimbo Architecture, based regionally in Albury-Wodonga. She also sits on the board of directors for Beyond Housing, one of Victoria's largest providers of Affordable Housing. Previously Carly was a Senior Architect with Casey Brown Architecture where she led a range of award-winning projects in the office, most recently the highly acclaimed Crackenback Stables. She was a keynote speaker in Milan for the PLAN

Perspective Architectural Conference 2015. Carly has a keen interest in sustainability, and in 2006 spent a year working in Germany alongside the long-term unemployed teaching young children about sustainability and the environment.

The lecture will be presented in Murray Art Museum Albury’s (MAMA) Paul Ramsay Galleries. There will be cash bar available.
