Carrie: The Musical 2025
Event description
Join us for an unforgettable night of music, dance, and drama at the Maury Young Arts Centre as the students of Whistler Secondary School perform Carrie: The Musical!
Now in their third year of musical productions, the WSS theatre group, led by director Conor Niwinski, will amaze you with their engaging performances and superb talent.
The Story: Carrie White is a teenage outcast who longs to fit in. At school, she’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s dominated by her loving but cruelly controlling mother. What none of them know is that Carrie has discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it. Set in the present, in the small New England town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie: The Musical is based on the book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), with music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose).
This show is rated PG-13 and includes mild adult themes better suited for audience members 14+. Parental guidance/discretion for any audience members under the age of 14 is recommended. Please also note sudden loud noises and the use of haze and smoke should be expected.
