Event description

CASTE: Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson

Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of America’s hidden social hierarchy. In Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, Pulitzer Prize–winning author Isabel Wilkerson masterfully uncovers the unspoken caste system that has shaped American society for centuries.

Through deeply researched narratives and personal stories, Wilkerson reveals how caste — not just race or class — influences our lives, relationships, and institutions. This book invites us to rethink justice, belonging, and the systems we often take for granted. Come ready to read, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversation about the structures that divide us — and the possibilities for healing and change.

Whether you’ve read the book before or are just discovering it, this is the perfect space to connect and grow together.

This Book Club will be lead by Dr. Rita Fierro.

Dr. Rita Fierro is a global social justice consultant, author, and facilitator with over 30 years of experience analyzing ystemic racism. Author of “Digging Up the Seeds of White Supremacy,” a groundbreaking book that explores how interconnected systems—child welfare, education, legal, and economic—sustain racial injustice.

As a scholar-activist, she brings a unique blend of ancestral healing, somatic awareness, and systemic analysis to her work. With training in Reiki and Family Constellations, Dr. Fierro helps communities confront inherited trauma and build regenerative relationships. In this series, she is particularly passionate about exploring how caste and white supremacy shape intimacy, power, and romantic love.
