Event description

Join in this visual art workshop in Phoenix Arizona. Art is a storytelling medium + a healing vehicle when words are not yet formed. Explore your emotional world, practice your connection with art, release internalized oppression-  free yourself from shame, judgment, or performative pleasing.  Gain confidence + familiarity with your artistic emotional processing abilities.
Opportunity to Showcase Your Work in a Gallery Event later on in the year!

“Catching the Shadows” is a space to paint with support in relation to trauma around perinatal or bodily autonomy experiences such as but not limited to: abortion, adoption, miscarriage, birth, postpartum, lactation, gender, sexuality, and state, institutional, or interpersonal violence.

If you feel a well of emotion and don't have the words- this space is for you. If you desire COVID-cautious and creative community, this space is for you. No pressure to share your story or experience during the workshop, and no pressure to socialize.

In the Spring of 2024, I facilitated this workshop as a part of Seeding Sovereignty's Self Care Sundays. I spoke about my emotional process thru artmaking as a Presenter during LGBTI University of Arizona's Conference on Queer & Trans Futures. This is my first in-person workshop. All materials included, and feel free to bring your own if you have favorites!

This workshop is FREE and donations are encouraged for those who have the means. For more on financial equity for who are new to it, here is suggested reading on the GREEN BOTTLE SLIDING SCALE
