Event description
Are you new to a committee or board for an Aboriginal Corporation? Thinking about joining one? Or just want to brush up on the basics?
Being on a committee or board is a rewarding way to contribute to your community, but it also comes with important roles and responsibilities. Many people step into these positions without fully understanding what’s involved. This session is designed to help you feel confident in your role and understand the key elements of good governance under the CATSI Act - Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006.
We’ll cover:
✅ Roles and responsibilities of committee and board members
✅ Meetings and decision-making – what you need to know
✅ Key governance documentation – minutes, financials, constitutions, and more
This session will provide clear and practical information, with opportunities to ask questions and share experiences along the way. Whether you're just starting out or looking for a refresher, come along and build your understanding in a supportive setting.
