Event description

Generations In Civil – Shaping Tomorrow, Together

Across our industry, every generation plays a part in shaping the future of civil construction. From early-career entrants to seasoned leaders, each person brings valuable experience, perspective, and purpose.

This year’s International Men’s Day event—Generations in Civil: Shaping Tomorrow, Together—is an opportunity to connect, reflect, and recognise the people who help build our industry’s strength across generations.

Through storytelling and shared conversation, we’ll explore what it means to support one another, champion wellbeing, and create a culture where every voice is valued.

Our panel discussion, hosted by Alex Rance, will bring these ideas to life, featuring Whelans’ Group, Tim and Charlie Whelan, and Contek Constructions’ Simon and Adrian Fuller (former Ken Edgley Award winner), who will share their experiences of working side by side in family-founded businesses. Their stories will highlight the values, challenges, and opportunities that come from learning across generations and leading with purpose.

Together, we’ll:

  • Raise awareness about mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing

  • Celebrate positive role models and their contribution to our communities

  • Foster meaningful connections across generations

  • Encourage open, honest dialogue that builds understanding and unity

Join us as we honour the people who continue to shape tomorrow’s civil construction industry — together.
