Rising Together: A Parent and Community Advocacy Event on the Long Beach Report

For more than a decade, Long Beach parents, students, and community members have organized for education equity across LBUSD. Children's Defense Fund-California has documented that work in our new report, "Rooted in Community, Rising Together: A Decade of Advocacy and Partnership in Long Beach."

This forum brings the report back to the community it was written for. Rather than a lecture, it is a working afternoon built around your voice and your experience.

During the forum, you will:

• Learn what the report reveals about discipline, achievement gaps, English learner outcomes, the Black Student Achievement Initiative, and SaferLBUSD

• Share your own experiences in small-group story circles and hear from other Long Beach families

• Get hands-on practice with the advocacy tools featured in the report

• Leave with a clear next step and a way to stay connected to this work

Who should attend: Long Beach parents, caregivers, families, and community members who care about the education and well-being of Long Beach youth. No prior advocacy experience is needed.Refreshments will be provided. Space is limited to 35 participants, so please register early.
