CDoc LOCALS: Circle
Description
What
Circle follows on from Spark, our filmmaker speed meet that happened on Oct 27. It brings together local filmmakers at every stage to explore the dilemmas documentary-making throws up, and to learn from each other’s experience through a range of round tables. Each table starts from a shared topic and scenario that people can use to think about their own film and explore what may arise, or has already!
We hope people leave with clearer thinking about their own film, practical ideas they can use, and continue building connections with other local filmmakers.
How
Each table is hosted by an experienced filmmaker representing a topic and scenario, you will be invited to switch tables once and spend 30min at each table - with a handful of other filmmakers.
To register, we are asking participants to select 2 tables they would like to join on the night - or nominate a scenario or topic that is not reflected below:
Consent and filming in your own community: working with people you know, and what you owe them before, during and after the film.
When the story changes: the film you planned versus the film you’re getting, and adapting without losing the point.
Fitting your story into six minutes: finding the one story in a rich subject, and having the courage to leave good material out.
Being your own producer: time, money, building a team, funding, and sourcing music and archive.
...?
Where
We will use the gallery space and surrounding area at Lot 19 from 6pm, snacks and drinks provided on the night - donations welcome to help cover costs.
Who
This is open for anyone to join even if you didn't come to our last gathering, there will be filmmakers, crew and story holders.
If you have already formed a team, you are welcome to come and move as a group - or split up and each gather different perspectives and insights.
If you have not filled in our Filmmaker Expression of Interest yet, we invite you to do that now.
