Himalaya Day Events 2025 | Australian Himalayan Foundation
Event description
Join us to celebrate Himalaya Day 2025
May 29th, Himalaya Day, holds a special place in the history and heritage of the Australian Himalayan Foundation. This significant day marks the anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s trailblazing first ascent of Mt. Everest in 1953—a moment that not only reshaped mountaineering history but also laid the foundation for decades of humanitarian work in the Himalaya.
We invite you to join us in celebrating our shared love for the Himalaya and the humanitarian work that Sir Ed inspired. Together, we honour the resilience and strength of the people of the Himalaya and toast to the spirit of adventure and generosity that continues to drive our mission to uplift communities across the region.

About the Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF)
The Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF) was founded in 2002 by a group of mountain-loving friends galvanised Sir Edmund Hillary’s philanthropic work. Their goal: to improve the quality of life for the resilient people they met in the Himalaya.
From the beginning, AHF has worked hand-in-hand with organisations in Nepal, Bhutan and Ladakh - reinforcing a bond that began with the Sherpas helping the first Western mountaineers summit Himalayan peaks. We work exclusively with local organisations that have strong links with the communities they serve and who share our vision, purpose and goals.
We are an independent, non-faith-based, Australian charity with full DFAT accreditation and tax deductibility. Our programs focus on education, health and the environment.
AHF thrives thanks to the support of a vibrant and dedicated community that includes trekkers, storytellers and Himalayan partners, all united by a deep connection to the region and each other.
With thanks to raffle prize donors including Young Henrys Brewery, Verve Portraits, Pennicott Wilderness Journeys and Bogong Equipment.
