Celebrating Cultures Pop- Up: Maraky Sip and Paint
Description
Join artist Maraky Vowells for a guided painting session at Botany Commons, bringing together Ethiopian culture, creativity, music and community for a relaxed evening of art.
Drawing inspiration from Maraky’s Ethiopian heritage, you’ll create your own painted canvas, guided step by step by the artist. Choose from two painting options, learn the basics of colour mixing and layering, or use the session as a starting point to create your own image. More experienced artists are welcome to take the opportunity to make the artwork their own. Explore the freedom and beauty of Afro-Surrealism while listening to Ethiopian Jazz and connecting with others.
You’re also invited to incorporate elements of your own culture into your artwork. No prior painting experience is required. Make a night of it with Botany Commons’ Pizza Tuesday special, buy one pizza and get one free, available alongside the session. The Pop-Up offers a unique opportunity to embrace our community’s rich cultural heritage through arts, culture, and connection. Don’t miss out, come experience the heart and soul of our community in a welcoming and inclusive space!
