Event description

You’re invited!

We want to say a massive thank you for everything you’ve done for the community as a frontline worker during the pandemic.

You continue to inspire us every day by tackling the huge challenges you face head on.

That’s why we’re showing our appreciation by donating 15 personally engraved pavers with your individual or team names, as part of our Celebration Steps project, phase III.

So, come and let down your hair with us, find your paver, soak up the community atmosphere, and enjoy some light refreshments (including coffees and pastries).

We also welcome you to network and swap stories with our Centennial Parklands Foundation Governors, the Greater Sydney Parklands team and paver donors, should you wish.

What are the Celebration Steps?

In 2017, the Centennial Parklands Foundation set out to revive the much-loved area overlooking Willow Pond and Fly Casting Pond, with the creation of a community initiative entitled the Celebration Steps.

Donations were made by the community to secure engraved pavers, personalised with messages of love and celebration.

There has been a wonderful response from the community with over 400 pavers laid at the Celebration Steps to date, raising over $225,000 to support and enhance Centennial Parklands.

During phase III of the project, we have raised over $100k for the Legacy Fund with the help of donations, installing an additional 187 individual pavers, as well as the 15 especially for you, our nominated COVID-19 frontline workers.

You might like to know that donations are integral to helping the Legacy Fund aid:

  • 3,000 disadvantaged children to take part in Nature Education programs, in order to develop their:

- Resilience

- Physical and mental health

- Sense of belonging

  • The conservation of a nationally endangered native scrub

With 97% of the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub has been destroyed, protecting the Parklands’ remnants is critical.

  • Community health and wellbeing

This is important as studies show that just 30 minutes a day spent in nature can:

- Lower blood pressure

- Reduce anxiety

- Increase self-esteem

***

We look forward to seeing you:

    • On: Sunday 5th June
    • From: 11am – 12.30pm
    • At: the Celebration Steps off Dickens Drive

Please RSVP by 27th May - and do feel free to bring a friend or family member to celebrate the occasion with.

Note, however, that places are strictly limited to 2 x attendees in total for each paver (or 1 x plus one if you are attending).

The event will also be weather dependent, so we will have to postpone it in the case of heavy rain unfortunately.

More info will be circulated in the days leading up to event.

    Thank you!
