Description

Kayak Orchestra by Lichen Kelp & Dylan Martorell blends sound, sculpture and performance in an experimental ritual that acts as a gentle reverie on water stewardship.

Presented in collaboration with Southern Cross Kayaking, audiences will take to the water in sonified kayaks, drifting through a meditative soundscape attuned to the local acoustic ecologies and paying homage to Ganguddy.

Each one-hour session takes place on the water at Ganguddy, Wollemi National Park.

Please arrive 20 minutes before your booked session for check-in, completion of the participant risk agreement and safety information.

What is included

Two-person kayaks and life jackets are provided.

Southern Cross Kayaking will introduce participants to kayaking and staying safe on the water, and the experience will be guided by the artists.

All participants must wear the provided life jacket and complete the participant risk agreement before taking part.

You do not need a minimum level of swimming competency to participate.

If you book individually, that’s completely fine. You will be paired with another participant for your two-person kayak.

You are welcome to book more than one session.

Ages

Kayak Orchestra is for participants aged 12 years and over.

Participants aged under 18 must share a kayak with an accompanying adult.

Getting there

Ganguddy is approximately a 30-minute drive from Cementa HQ.

From Coricudgy Road, follow Ganguddy / Dunns Swamp Access Road. Once inside the park, follow signs to the boat ramp. Parking is at the picnic area next to Southern Cross Kayaking.

Transport is by car. Cementa is developing a carpooling system and will send information to ticket holders closer to the festival.

What to bring:
  • plenty of drinking water, as there is no drinking water available on site

  • sunscreen and sun protection

  • a sun hat

  • comfortable clothing

  • sports shoes that can get wet.

We recommend leaving a towel and change of clothing in your car.

There are toilets and BBQ facilities at Ganguddy but no nearby food outlets, so consider bringing a picnic and making a day of your visit.

Please take all rubbish with you when you leave.

Weather

Kayak Orchestra is weather dependent and will not proceed in severe conditions.

If Cementa cancels your session due to weather, your ticket will be refunded.

Any updates will be sent to the email address provided with the booking.
