Location: Greenwood Cemetery, Strathcona, MN

Time: 10:30 AM (Second session at 1:00 PM if needed)
Cost: $20 per person – Limited to 12 participants. Add-On Starter Kit is available, must be pre-purchased, cost: $40 includes a 1-gallon pail, brushes, scrapers, bamboo skewers, and a spray bottle of cleaning solution
Join the Roseau County Historical Society & Museum for a hands-on, one-hour workshop led by a trained professional from Murray Cemetery Preservation, LLC. This class is designed to teach the proper care and cleaning of headstones and grave markers—ensuring respectful, lasting preservation.
Topics covered include:

Headstone styles and types of stone commonly found in the Midwest

What not to do when cleaning or caring for grave markers

Demonstration and discussion of safe cleaning techniques

Tools, materials, and considerations for proper care

Raising and leveling of simple stones
We provide all necessary tools and materials; bring your curiosity and a care for history.
Please dress appropriately for outdoor work, including closed-toe shoes, long pants, and weather-appropriate layers.
