  • A minimum upfront payment is required to secure your order. This includes a surcharge, a non-refundable cancellation fee, and a refundable deposit.

Event description

Join the artsbus for a free ceramics (clay) workshop in South Melbourne for tweens & teens in grades 5 - year 8.


This workshop is organised by Artists for Kids Culture with funding support from The City of Port Phillip Youth Access Grants. The program takes place on the lands of the Boon Wurrung People of the Eastern Kulin Nation.

What to expect

  • 2PM: Arrive and have afternoon tea as you meet the group (up to 20 participants) with a warm-up game with Gen

  • 2:30PM: Go through step-by-step to make a ceramic dish in your own creative shape, colour and style! There will be a drawing chill-zone and artsbus helpers around.

  • 3:30PM: Pack up, share, and learn about free upcoming artsbus opportunities. A Headspace representative will also pop in to let the group know about the new South Melbourne Centre

  • 4:00PM: Workshop ends! Cay creations will be dried, fired, and ready in August.

Notes

  • In the booking, please write the parent/carer's details under "Buyer information" and the child's name in Ticket Information

  • Age limit is 10 - 15 years

  • Parents and carers can drop off kids OR stay in the lounge area. We welcome carers of children with special needs to join in and support during the workshop. 

  • Participants should wear clothes that can get messy! 

  • The artsbus prioritises families who live in social housing and/or having a healthcare card. A number of tickets are already reserved; all are welcome to book in and attend!

This workshop will include artsbus volunteers to encourage and support children. All AKC artsbus team members have Working With Children Check's.

About the Feature Artist, Franky

Franky is a ceramic artist from Naarm, Melbourne. They have a studio and teach at Lygon Street Pottery in Brunswick. Franky loves exploring the many possibilities of clay and enjoys supporting students to express their creativity and combine traditional techniques in new and interesting ways.
