CERES Southern Teacher Environment Network (TEN) Session - Term 4, 2025
Event description
CERES Southern Teacher Environment Network (TEN): Aspendale Primary
Join fellow educators for an afternoon at Aspendale Primary to explore how schools are creating hands-on sustainability projects that connect students with nature and community.
Enjoy a guided tour and Q&A of Aspendale Primary’s inspiring sustainability initiatives — including their newly planted Tiny Forest, established by Robyn Craig through the Garden Crown “1000 Year Forest” program. Discover how the Tiny Forest connects to curriculum, supports biodiversity, and acts as a living outdoor classroom.
Robyn Craig will share insights into the Tiny Forest model — how it restores Indigenous habitat, engages students in ongoing care and monitoring, and strengthens community connection through meaningful, local action.
You’ll also see Aspendale’s broader sustainability projects in action, including:
Gardening club and annual olive harvest
Hot compost monitoring
Marine Ambassadors and Enviro Student Leaders initiatives
Their involvement in the CERES CDS Vic School Champions Program
The session will finish with afternoon tea and networking — a chance to connect, swap stories, and gather new ideas to take back to your own school.
