Chair Yoga at NECCHi East Coburg

We acknowledge this event takes place on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past & present. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

What is Chair Yoga?

Chair Yoga is an adapted form of yoga with traditional stretching and strengthening postures done in a seated position, with some standing options using the chair for balance support.

This class is designed for older adults and will focus on joint mobility, balance and strength, as well as relaxation and social connection. Classes will move through a sequence of gentle movements to warm up joints, strengthening and stretching postures, and mindfulness and relaxation to complete the practice. Mindful movement and breathing practices in yoga can help to reduce stress, anxiety and low mood

Additional info:

The class runs for 1 hour from 10 - 11am

Morning tea will be offered after class for participants who would like to stay for a chat & a cuppa, 11 - 11.30(ish).

No previous yoga experience is necessary and options will be provided to suit different abilities and health conditions. If you have an injury or had recent surgery, it is recommended you seek approval from your treating health practitioner prior to participating.

The first installment of our Chair Yoga classes will run through Seniors Festival in October 2026.
