Event description

This training is for educators/community workers who are concerned about young people engaging with problematic, divisive or hateful misinformation. The interactive workshop focuses on narratives in the media and online, in order to challenge online hate, racism, fake news and conspiracy theories.

It is intended that educators/community workers will be able to make use of the content and activities presented in the training for both planned and unplanned learning opportunities.

  • Build a deep understanding of the relationship between misinformation, racism and other forms of hate.
  • Enhance your skills to better recognise mis/disinformation and be more confident to respond to young people who are engaging with it.
  • Confidently tackle controversial issues.
  • Learn about practices you can put into place to deal with controversial issues appropriately in the classroom, in your workplace or at home.
