Description

Join us for a practical and engaging 90-minute webinar designed for primary healthcare professionals working with diverse communities across Western NSW. This session explores how unconscious bias can shape clinical judgement, communication, patient engagement, and access to care, and provides practical strategies to support culturally safe, inclusive, and equitable healthcare delivery.

Using healthcare-based scenarios, reflective discussion, and practical examples, participants will explore:

·       How unconscious bias can influence patient assessment, communication, treatment decisions, and health outcomes

·       Common forms of bias in healthcare settings and practical approaches to recognising and addressing them

·       Strategies for fostering culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for patients, communities, and colleagues

Topics include:

·       Understanding unconscious bias in healthcare practice

·       Exploring how bias develops and influences decision-making

·       Recognising subtle exclusion in patient care and workplace interactions

·       Applying an inclusion framework to support culturally responsive care

·       Using practical tools to challenge bias and strengthen equitable care

Participants will leave with practical insights and strategies they can apply in everyday healthcare settings to strengthen culturally safe care, improve engagement with diverse communities, and support more inclusive, equitable, and responsive health services across Western NSW.

A certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion.

This webinar is supported by funding from Western NSW Primary Health Network through the Australian Government’s PHN Program.
