Gamba Daru my beautiful sister’s,
We welcome you all to come and celebrate International Women’s Day 2022 with us!
This session is all about coming together and celebrating all the amazing and strong women/sisters we have in our lives, the connection we all continue to build and grow with one another will always be one of importance and substance.
For Internationals Women’s Day 2022 we yarn Changing Climate: Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow. To the women here at First Nations Foundations we believe a huge contribution to ‘sustainability’ is by continuing and building on our traditions and healing as first nations women whether this be environmentally, economically, or socially it all contributes to us collectively as strong Black Women and our holistic healing. Â
Join our facilitators Larisha Jerome, a Jarowair, Wakka Wakka & Wulli Wulli woman and Letisha Jarden, a Mununjali, Noonuccal and Tongan Women as they have a yarn with a very inspiring blak sister about her journey with ‘sustainability’ personally and professionally - the lovely Liandra Gaykamangu.
Liandra is a Yolŋu woman from North-East Arnhem Land and the Founder and Creative Director of Liandra Swim, an eco-conscious designer swimwear label that fuses contemporary Aboriginal art and swimwear fashion. Liandra Swim allows people, from all walks of life, to authentically engage and connect with Australian Indigenous culture in a new and exciting environment. Only four years old, Liandra Swim has already been featured in Vogue US, Elle Italy, Harper’s Bazaar and Marie Claire and it was also recently showcased at the 2021 Australian Afterpay Fashion Week. Liandra scaled her label whilst operating from Milingimbi in North-East Arnhem Land, a region where she has strong familial ties.
Think of attending this IWD session for 2022 as a form of self-care; your opportunity to connect with and be inspired by Indigenous women from across the country.Â
This session will run for approximately 45mins with time for questions at the end, and it's all about our WOMEN!
See you all there!
