In a significant step towards conserving the endangered White's Seahorse (Hippocampus whitei), the Sydney Seahorse
Project have released thousands of seahorses into waters around Sydney.
This talk will discuss the development of conservation methodologies for the White’s seahorse, including the optimization of husbandry for captive-bred seahorses and the monitoring of seahorses released into the wild.

About your presenter Mitchell Brennan
I am currently completing my PhD at the University of Technology Sydney. I am passionate about the conservation of threatened marine species and the restoration of marine habitats and ecosystems. I am particularly interested in the unique family of fishes, Syngnathidae, which includes seahorses, sea dragons and pipefish. My PhD research is focused on the conservation of the Endangered White’s seahorse, Hippocampus whitei, including leading a conservation-stocking program and facilitating habitat provision and restoration.
