The WAF Furneaux Island Project aims to target priority weeds on the Furneaux Islands by providing education and training to local landholders to increase their capacity to self-manage weed infestations. As part of this project NRM North, in partnership with TasTAFE, are supporting Furneaux Island residents to complete formal ChemCert training over two days.

The ChemCert program is a nationally recognised short course that delivers training in chemical safety and handling using best practice methods and national standards.

NRM North will provide full sponsorship for 10 Furneaux Islands residents to complete the formal ChemCert training, and can provide enrolment support with TasTAFE as required.

Dates: Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 May 2026

Time: 2 day course, from 9am - 4pm

Location: Flinders Island Arts & Entertainment Centre, 9 Patrick St, Whitemark

The course includes theory and practical components, so please wear workplace appropriate clothing.
