Theory for HSC Chemistry Teachers (21/8)
Event description
This NESA ACCREDITEDĀ workshop is designed for teachers new to teaching HSC Chemistry plus those who would like to refamiliarise themselves with the content, background theory and make connections across the different modules of the HSC Chemistry syllabus. We will be unpacking:
- Equilibrium and Acid Reactions
- Acid/Base Reactions
- Organic Chemistry
- Applying Chemical Ideas
- Opportunities for Depth Studies
In addition, we will connect with the 'assumed knowledge' from the Year 11 syllabus.
NESA ACCREDITATION
Completing Theory for HSC Chemistry Teachers will contribute 5 hours of NSWĀ Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of DeliveryĀ and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing Standard Descriptor 2.1.2 fromĀ the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining ProficientĀ Teacher Accreditation in NSW.Ā
A Certificate of Completion will be sent to Graduate Teachers for their evidence.

Workshop Delivered by Chris Keipert
Chris Keipert is an experienced Chemistry teacher at Coffs Harbour Christian Community School, having taught HSC Chemistry for the past 12 years. He has also taught Chemistry at university, teaching 1st and 2nd-year Chemistry subjects as well as the Chemistry Bridging Course at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Chris has been an HSC Marker for the past 8 years in both Senior Marker and Pilot Marker roles.
