Description

Why play Chess?

Chess is much more than moving wooden pieces on a checkered board. It is a mental workout that sharpens your focus, improves your memory, and trains you to think several steps ahead. Every single game is a brand-new puzzle with infinite possibilities. No two games played in human history are completely alike.

Here at Boobooks chess players of all ages and all abilities, from beginners to competive players gather here every Saturday from 10.30am on.

Have a drink from our cafe and something to eat to keep up your strength and mental focus while challenging an opponent!

It is free and a great way to get out and meet other people

Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity

Boobooks is a cozy bookshop, cafe, and wine bar located on Anaiwan land in the Beardy Street Mall in the centre of Armidale, NSW, and stocks over 50,000 second-hand books, as well as a range of new titles. A selection of books are available through our online store. Gift cards and Greeting Cards can also be purchased. We are open 10am-5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am-1pm Saturday and on the last Sunday of the month during Armidale Markets in the Mall.

We offer an extensive and exciting array of titles and genres, and have a special interest in stocking general Australian history and Australian local history, science fiction, fantasy, role-playing games, and rare and collectable books. New books include titles by authors local to our area, as well as classic titles.

Come in and browse, and if you are wanting to find a particular title or author our team will be happy to help.

Our Cafe

Located within Boobooks bookshop, you can order coffee, tea and cakes from our cafe 10am-4pm Monday to Friday and 10am-1pm Saturday and during Armidale Markets in the Mall. There is a choice of inside, outside (by the fountain!), where you can enjoy something from our cafe whilst perusing a book or just sitting and relaxing. Our cakes are exclusively made for us.
