Learning at the Chifley Home and Education Centre

Chifley Home is the home of Prime Minister Ben Chifley and his wife, Elizabeth.

Preserved in its original state, the house is a time capsule of life in the 1940s and is a testament to the hardships of the Great Depression, followed by wartime rationing and restrictions which dictated how people lived. The house contains the Chifley’s original household furnishings, Prime Ministerial mementos and personal effects from 1914 to 1961.

All tours are led by Museum staff, and in small groups due to the nature of the Museum.
