Session overview

Behaviour is communication, shaped by a child’s nervous system, environment, relationships and unmet needs.

This session invites educators to move beyond behaviour management and towards child‑centred, neuroaffirming behaviour support grounded in neuroscience and child development. Participants will explore how stress, regulation and context influence behaviour, and how responsive adult support can foster emotional safety and wellbeing.

The session focuses on understanding why behaviour occurs and how to respond with compassion, clarity and intention.

What we’ll explore in this session

During this 2‑hour webinar, we will explore:

  • Behaviour as communication of need and nervous system state

  • The role of co‑regulation in supporting emotional development

  • How stress, sensory load and environment influence behaviour

  • Observing behaviour through a child‑centred lens

  • Practical strategies to support regulation and emotional safety

The emphasis is on relational approaches that support both children and educators.
