Child Rich Communities Online Kōrero - Enabling Play in Aotearoa
Event description
Within Aotearoa, there is growing recognition that play is one of the most essential aspects of a child and young person’s development. When societies value play, tamariki and rangatahi are able to feel like valued members of their community. They are recognised as experts of their own lives who can guide and inform how their communities meet their play needs.
This session celebrates those currently working within both the play and tākaro spaces in Aotearoa. Recognising and enabling both sides of our bi-cultural play history is key to creating connected and resilient children, whānau and healthy communities across Aotearoa. This approach acknowledges that while the genesis for play in Aotearoa stems from a Te Ao Māori worldview, the current play landscape also reflects the whakapapa of all those who call Aotearoa home.
Come join our Child Rich Community online kōrero and hear from three great speakers who are supporting the wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi by enabling play, fun and connection. They’ll share their learning and experience so that Aotearoa-wide, we can create even more opportunities for our mokopuna and whānau to thrive.
