From 1 October 2025, organisations who provide services to children with disability will need to be able to demonstrate how they are keeping children safe.

In this webinar, the Queensland Family and Child Commission will walk you through Queensland’s new Child Safe Organisations Act.

Guest Speaker - Jane Read
Jane Reid is the Principal Advisor, Education and Capacity Building with the Child Safe Organisations team. With a background spanning education and health, she has led projects that engage children and young people, including those in youth detention, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Prior to joining the Child Safe Organisation team Jane worked on projects to improve the accessibility of stations, passenger and long-distance trains and undertook extensive engagement with people with diverse disabilities and advocacy and peak bodies. Jane is passionate about creating safer, more inclusive environments where all young people can thrive and participate fully in the life of their community.

During the webinar you’ll explore what the Act means in practice, including the Child Safe Standards, the Universal Principle, and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. This will give you a clear understanding of the reforms, how they work together, how they support safer environments for children and young people across the state and what you should expect from a Child Safe Organisation. This is also an opportunity to contribute your ideas to this important program.
