This is a hybrid course.
Attendees will complete online education as well as attend one in-person session.
Please select the date that you would like to attend the in-person session. You will need to complete the online education before attending the in-person session.
You will receive and email with instructions to access the online portal after completing registration. You will have access to the online portal for nine months after you create your account.
Description
Childbirth classes are crafted to educate those experiencing pregnancy and their support partners on what to expect before, during, and after the birth of baby.
This interactive online course covers essential information on labor and more and highlights ways partners can help. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories. You’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan! Please allow 6-8 hours to complete the online course.

When attending your in-person class session you will meet with a certified Childbirth Educator who can answer questions and help you put the education into practice with:
How to have an empowered birth experience
Review of comfort measures and pain management options
Massage and birth positions practice
Understanding the role of partner/support person
Postpartum planning

FAQs
- Is this class only online?
No. While most of the learning will be done online, the date you select will be for an in-person class session. During this session, the facilitator will highlight specific topics, answer questions, and demonstrate exercises.
Attendees are expected to complete the online education prior to attending the in-person class session.
- How long will I be able to access the online program?
You will have access to the online materials for nine months after the first time you access the class.
- When should I take this class?
We recommend taking this class during your seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. This ensures that the education is top of mind when you begin laboring.
- Can I also schedule a tour of the Salem Health Family Birth Center?

- Do you offer any discounts?
Scholarship options are available for those who need assistance. Please reach out to the CHEC team by calling or visiting our front desk.
- Can medical insurance pay for this class?
The CHEC is not able to accept insurance. However, some insurance companies will offer a reimbursement payment for this class. Please contact your insurance provider for details. Our staff is happy to provide additional documentation, if requested, to help in the reimbursement process.
