Childhood Dementia Information Session
Childhood dementia affects 1 in 2800 babies born in Australia and causes around 90 deaths per year – a similar number to those that die from children's cancer.
Childhood Dementia Initiative invites you to join Head of Programs, Gail Hilton, for this one-hour introductory session on childhood dementia, you are welcome to stay for further discussion once the session has finished. You’ll be equipped with key statistics and a broad understanding of the causes, symptoms and impacts of childhood dementia.
This free session is ideal for health and social care workers, researchers, parents and policy makers who would like to gain a better understanding of this condition. The resources shared in this session were developed with funding from the Australian Government.
About the Childhood Dementia Initiative:
The Childhood Dementia Initiative is a for-purpose organisation, established in 2020 and led by Megan Donnell in response to the horrifying and compelling results of a study looking at the incidence and cost to the economy of childhood dementia in Australia. The Childhood Dementia Initiative has three priorities:
- Raise awareness
- Accelerate therapeutic development
- Improve care and quality of life
