Children’s Book Launch - “Luca and the moth”

Celebrate the launch of Barbara Kelly’s children’s book, “Luca and the moth”. Barbara wrote the book to draw attention to the plight of the southern pink underwing moth and the subtropical rainforest. While written for an audience of 4-9 year olds, the themes of determination, making a difference and community will delight readers of all ages.

Celebrate with us, enjoy a morning tea of rainforest juice and moth cake, and experience the authenticity and magic of Barbara’s storytelling. Cold drinks for sale. There will be readings and activities for children throughout the morning until 1.00pm.

About the story

In the Sunshine Coast Hinterland of Australia, 9 year old Luca visits a dark subtropical rainforest and encounters an awesome creature called Phyllomena. She tells him about her terrible predicament! Luca’s challenging journey to help save the species draws readers into a captivating tale where nature and fantasy intertwine. What can Luca do to help? Who will help solve Phyllomena’s problem?

While you’re visiting, we encourage you to buy a rainforest tree or two and plant them in your garden. You’re bound to help a moth, a butterfly or some other species find a home!
