The Children's Business event is back!

The event is for children aged 7 to 12 with an early interest in business, sales, products, and services and those with passions and creative pursuits. The event will be of interest to families who want to expose their children to business and entrepreneurial concepts, provide opportunities to learn the practical and social/emotional skills needed to explore alternative options for their future and develop their confidence, creativity and stategic skills. Open to homeschooled children and those that attend mainstream schooling.

The first part of the event is a drop and leave workshop on Saturday 2nd November 2023, 9am - 12pm at Vincent Community Centre.

A small group of up to 10 children will have fun and collaborate through hands on activities to learn about:

  • Product design.
  • Creating a product (handmade essential oil rollers and room sprays).
  • Marketing and selling a product.
  • Managing money in business.
  • Most importantly – mindset skills for business and entrepreneurship.

The group will consolidate all their workshop learning by putting it into practice - selling their handmade essential oil products to the public at Kyilla Community Famers Market on Saturday 9th November, 8am - 11:30am.

The children will be fully supported throughout both parts of the event by Ecotherapy Early Years creator Victoria, who is a qualified and experienced early childhood educator and children's event facilitator.

Details and Terms and Conditions:

Part 1 – drop and leave workshop.

  • Saturday 2 Novembr 2024
  • 9am to 12pm
  • Vincent Community Centre - 99 Loftus St, Leederville WA 6007.
  • Victoria will engage children in fun and collaborative activities to explore business and entrepreneurial concepts,  make the essential oil rollers and prepare for the market.
  • Morning tea and lunch provided.

Part 2 – market stall.

  • Saturday 9th November 2024
  • 8am to 11:30am
  • Kyilla Community Famers Market - Kyilla Park, Clieveden St &, Union St, North Perth WA 6006.
  • Children will sell their handmade essential oil rollers at Kyilla Community Famers Market. Depending on bookings, children may be split into 2 groups to man the stall in shifts – for example: one group at the stall from 8am – 9:45am and the other group at the stall from 9:45am – 11:30pm. Final times and details to be confirmed closer to the event. Parents must be available to collect their child at the conclusion of their shift. You will be prompted to record your shift preference when booking a ticket, but please note your child's allocated shift will not be confirmed until closer to the markat date.
  • While selling their product at the market, children will be supported to offer product samples, interact with customers and accept cash and electronic payments.

There will be take-home bonuses provided to children at the conclusion of the event, including:

    • An equal share in ALL of the money made at the market! (It's fun to keep this a surprise).
    • A workbook to review the workshop content and encourge them to continue pursuing their own business idea.
    • Families can opt to receive a summative assessment (learning story) about their child's participation, linked to the learning objectives. This is perfect for homeschool families to pop straight in the portfolio for the moderator, or as a way to look back on this experience with your child while they're on their entrepreneurship journey.

By enrolling your child in this event, you provide them with a complete business taster experience, from product design and creation through to sales and customer service. All of the planning, material purchasing and market costs, product creation and skill teaching is taken care of.

One ticket must be purchased per child and admits the child to the workshop and market on both dates. Payment plans are available, please contact Victoria to arrange or if you have any questions.
