Children's Week with Hobsons Bay Toy Library
Event description
Join us for a FREE Children's Week special event!
'Rights Through Art: A Creative Celebration of Children’s Rights'
The Hobsons Bay Toy Library is proud to be providing a morning of fun with The Fun In Art.
Sensory play, and creative fun.
This is a great opportunity to visit the Toy Library in Newport. You can browse, borrow, return, or sign up.
Everyone welcome! No need to be a member (unless you'd like to borrow some toys!)
We will be outside in the closed off garden, with plenty of toys!
Children will explore their rights through play-based and creative arts-based activities facilitated by an art playgroup leader. The session will be co-designed with children, allowing them to choose from various activity stations and contribute ideas for how to express different rights.
Children will rotate through different stations, with each activity directly connected to fundamental children's rights while being developmentally appropriate across age groups.
Children will contribute to a collaborative mural using their preferred modes of expression and participation. The mural will be on display at the Toy Library as a representation of children's voices on their rights.
Since this is an outdoor event, if the weather forces us to cancel, that will have to be the case. Please keep an eye on your email closer to the date in case of cancellation.

They are open Thursdays & Saturdays.
Their website can be found here.
Who are The Fun In Art?
The Fun In Art is run by local mum Tegan Farrugia.
It is a paid toddler & pre-school art playgroup in Inner West Melbourne.
Weekly drop-in sessions for mums (or dads!) who want their little ones to experience the fun in art, without having to clean up afterwards!
It's a relaxed environment, with no judgements or expectations from the kids.
Lots of materials are provided and set up in an inviting way. This allows each child to gravitate towards what they are interested in, and be creative in any way they choose to.
Come to a single session, every week, or every now and then!
Location is from Williamstown Library, the same garden that these sensory sessions are in, as well as a few local cafes.
View more information on their website here.
This event has been made possible with thanks to the Victorian Government.
