Chisholm St: Season Pass
Event description
Chisholm St is a live performance space on Wadawurrung country, Ballarat. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded.
Hosted by Bronwyn Blaiklock, Chisholm St is an intimate foray into fascinating corners of classical music. Launched in March 2021, this diverse series of concerts by regional musicians and spoken word performers gives you a rare glimpse into creative music-making, up close and personal.
CHISHOLM ST: SEASON PASS
The season pass for 2022 includes a Friday evening seat at each of the following six Chisholm St concerts at a discounted price. Unfortunately, seats cannot be exchanged for another day in the series, and season tickets cannot be refunded. If you are unable to attend a concert, consider gifting your seat to a friend.
The performances start at 6 pm and finish at 7 pm, and the ticket price includes refreshments.
The six concerts
Chisholm St: May 6 | The Art of the Etude
Have you ever wondered why the French word étudestrikes fear into the heart of many classical
instrumentalists? These short compositions focus on a particular area of technique, yet some are so beautiful and
satisfying to play that they are firm fixtures in concert programs today. Flautist, Sarah Goodbourn, and pianist,
Bronwyn Blaiklock, share etudes by Chopin, Rachmaninov, Paganini, Telemann, and Piazzolla.
Chisholm St: June 17 | Australian Voices
What stays with you the longest – the storyline or the tune? Poet, Megan J Riedl, and pianist, Bronwyn Blaiklock,
explore the intersection of words and music in the performance of Australian music and poetry. Includes
compositions by Colin Brumby, Percy Grainger and Amadis Lacheta, among others.
Chisholm St: July 15 | Originals vs. Covers (rescheduled!)
Amie Brûlée and Geoff McArthur present a
charming blend of original songs and old favourites from days gone by with heart-warming harmonies and
vintage swing. Accompanied by the plush, round sound of acoustic double bass and guitar, their music is sure
to make you tap your toes and put a smile in your heart. At Chisholm St., they will reveal to you the
process of selecting, arranging, and performing the songs.
Chisholm St: September
9 | Ciao Ciao!
Sharon Turvey (voice) and Bronwyn Blaiklock (piano) take you on a journey of Italianate masterpieces past opera houses
and to the streets of Naples with a collection of songs so Italian, you’ll almost smell pizza... Pack your
favourite bottle of red!
Chisholm St: October 14 | Creativity
Two award-winning creatives share their works and their insight into where their inspiration comes from in this
special Chisholm St series. Composer/Pianist Jack Stacey and author/poet Kirstyn McDermott present a program of
all-original works, including a never-before-heard collaborative performance. Where will their inspiration take
us?
Chisholm St: November 11
| Nostalgia
What lends the heart to slip into nostalgia more than music? That sentimental yearning for days gone by that at
times renders us wistful and melancholic, and at others fills us with warm reminisces of people and places that
touched our souls. Amie Brûlée (voice and piano) joins Bronwyn Blaiklock (piano) for a program steeped in
nostalgia. From sentimental Irish ballads to French melancholia, this concert will let you wallow in your memories
while being soothed by beautiful sounds.
