Event description

What is day-to-day life in our city going to be like in 2050? More importantly, how do we get ready for this?

Although climate change is a global process, Ōtautahi will experience its impacts in risks and hazards specific to the context of our city. What does this mean for insurance? For the built environment? And how about personal and ecological wellbeing?

Our invited speakers explore these different facets of our urban and living systems and give us their takes on what deserves attention and care as we plan for the future.

Taken together their contributions provide insight into how we might lay some of the groundwork for a livable city.

Hear from:

  • Rod Carr, Former Chair of the Climate Change Commission

  • James Baigent, Insurance Council of New Zealand

  • Sarah Macfarlane, Te Mana Ora Community & Public Health

  • Jane Morgan, Team Leader Climate Adaptation at Christchurch City Council

  • Poet Erik Kennedy

Join us for this Christchurch Conversation as we explore how we can best ready ourselves – as individuals, whānau, communities and a city –  for life in 2050.
