Christmas Special: Eastern European inspired Festive Cooking Class 12th December
Description
Join me for a special and a one of a kind class this Festive season. I'm excited to offer this Christmas inspired cooking class & lunch where we cook up a generous celebration table spread altogether, inspired by the flavours of Eastern European/Slavic food traditions over the season of celebrations & gatherings. We will blend much loved Eastern European traditions with elements of a fresh, modern approach, adapting these beautiful dishes to suit the local warmer season we have here in Australia whilst still keeping all the generosity, flavour and sense of the Slavic festive table at the heart of the day. From an assortment of zakusky (Slavic appetisers and entree's) to a show stopping special Christmas main, along with vibrant various salads & sides you'll walk away with lots of ideas and inspiration for the weeks to come. After this hands on cooking session we will all sit down together to a festive lunch of everything we made + a dessert. This will be a fun class, appropriate for all levels of experience in cooking. Perfect for those looking for some fresh and special ideas for the celebration season ahead, for those who might want to bring something a little different to the Christmas table this year and also for anyone wanting to enjoy a little festive spirit ahead. All of these dishes are made to make your Christmas or special occasion flow with ease, with make ahead dishes and smart tips and ideas to add to your cooking knowledge.
What we'll be making and diving into in the class:
· Festive devilled eggs
· A creamy smoked salmon tower layer cake with homemade blini
· How to salt cure salmon and fish: A beetroot & vodka cured salmon and how to build your gravlax platter.
· Slow cooked glazed duck stuffed with buckwheat and a sour cherry sauce
· Herby creamy potato salad and what it takes to make a winning potato salad
· How to make ahead and build a Festive cabbage, beetroot, apple slaw (with various further slaw ideas)
· Eggplant salad with tvorog/syr cheese and garlic herb dressing
Lunch to Follow:
After the class we'll gather around the table for lunch & conversation. There will also be a homemade Sour cherry spiced Christmas kompot as well as Eastern European wine to enjoy with lunch. Dessert to finish off the day along with tea/coffee.
If you have any dietary requirements or questions please let me know.
What to expect in this class
Like all my classes at my home, expect an intimate, dynamic and hands on cooking class where we gather around the table with lots of chopping, stirring, tasting, and conversation. In this class we'll be diving into the world of celebration cooking in the Slavic culture inspired by Christmas, New Years Eve traditions and the entire season of gathering. In my classes I try to share knowledge and wisdom passed on by my family and cultural traditions inspired by the culture of household cooking in Ukraine, Belarus and Beyond. You’ll (hopefully) leave with a full heart, full belly and I’ll send you home like my mum/and babushka do - with several containers of food and inspiration to recreate these beautiful dishes at home with lots of confidence to recreate them for any of your upcoming gatherings over the Christmas & Festive season.
