Christmas Storytelling: Reading & Writing Programme
Event description
Join us for a magical Christmas Storytelling experience for kids aged 10-12!
Over the course of 4 weeks, we will meet online in groups of 10 to read a selection of wonderful short stories, poems and novel excerpts, focused on all things Christmas: generosity, the magic of gift-giving, family and community.
This $59 short course includes live online sessions run weekly for the reading and discussion, with writing prompts for kids to work on independently and submit via Google Classroom to share with each other. There are sessions scheduled to start in the last week of November for Tuesday at 5.30, Wednesday at 4.00 p.m. and Thursday at 5.00 p.m. If there is demand for it, we can also create Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning groups.
At the end of the programme, just in time for Christmas we will have a small writing competition where the kids will submit a short piece written in any genre they like - as long as it relates to Christmas - which will be uploaded anonymously to our website for the participants to vote on each other's work. The winner will receive a Christmas Storytelling Gift Pack (details to come - it will include books and either DVDs or an experience such as show tickets).
