Event description

At this workshop, we will be making Christmas themed large tote bags to be donated to Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).

It is hoped that the bright and colourful Christmas colours and patterns will bring some joy to children at a time of year when no one really wants to be in hospital.

These large totes are in high demand from many departments within the hospital and are used for a multitude of purposes.

  • They can be used to carry medical equipment so a child can be discharged from hospital a little earlier than they might normally be, because they can now, with this equipment and link to computers in PCH, be monitored from home.

  • The bags are also used for a place to store and carry PLAE (Play, Leisure, Activity and Enrichment) materials. These are enrichment materials given to them by the hospital to keep them engaged during what can be a long stay.

  • As shopping bags for parent who may need supplies from the on site supermarket.

  • To carry clothes and toiletries when parents find themselves suddenly having to stay overnight when their child is admitted.

  • And many other uses.

What to bring:

Participants in this workshop should bring their own sewing machine, scissors, thread, fabric marker, pins, and any other essential sewing supplies.

All fabric will be supplied. The fabric has been cut to size and it is hoped that participants will complete at least one large tote during the session.

There will be a break for morning tea, but please Bring your own flask of tea or coffee.
