Join the CIB W120 Disasters and the Built Environment online seminar, “Climate Resilience: Building Back Better Smarter”, hosted in collaboration with the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ).

This session will introduce BRANZ’s work in advancing the science of building resilience showcasing practical research, testing, and innovation aimed at reducing the impact of disasters and climate change on built environment.

You’ll hear from Dr. Katy Stokes and Dr. Catherine Nicholson, Senior Materials Scientists at BRANZ. Together, they’ll share insights from their ongoing research on building durability, flood resilience, and retrofitting for smarter design.

Speakers

Dr. Catherine Nicholson - Senior Materials Scientist at BRANZ. Catherine has over a decade of experience assessing the performance and durability of new materials and building systems. Her recent work focuses on climate adaptation and resilience in buildings.

Dr. Katy Stokes - Senior Materials Scientist at BRANZ. Katy’s expertise includes timber durability, flood impacts on buildings, and non-destructive detection of mould and contaminants. She co-leads BRANZ’s Climate Resilience Project with Dr. Nicholson.
