Event description

The ReCreators are running an 8-week circular woodworking design programme for pre-teens and teens aged 10-14 years every Thursday at West Auckland's RE: MAKER SPACE. 

The course will include: 

- Using hand tools and basic power tools including drills, jigsaws and sanders 

Projects they could learn how to make include:

- a planter box, mini table, chair, foot stool, toolbox and other free designs

Who is this workshop designed for?

This woodworking workshop is suitable for children aged 10+ years. Children must be able to listen and follow instructions carefully.
Please let us know if you child has any behavioral issues the tutor would need to know about. If your child is not good at listening or able to follow instructions carefully then discuss with us first. 

 What to bring?

All materials are included in the fee. Children do need to bring a water bottle and food for the class. 

Safety:

The workshops have a maximum of 8 students.The instructions for using the tools and equipment are clearly outlined and demonstrated by the tutor.
The participants will be using woodworking and power tools. The workshop includes the use of power drills, power sanders, a jigsaw, hammers, nails and impact drivers.

Notes: 

1.   All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!). Some work may be outdoors, please wear a sun hat and sunscreen if outdoors.

2.   Please also note that you need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.

When: Every Thursday from 1 Aug to 26 Sep, 4 pm - 6 pm

Where: West Auckland RE: MAKER SPACE, 7/6 Westgate Drive, Massey, Auckland.

Parking

We have three on-site carparks available for your convenience. Additionally, on-street parking surrounds the venue, and the Massey Leisure Centre is situated across the road. To ensure good neighbourly relations, kindly refrain from parking in spaces designated for our neighbours.
