Description

Join us for this special screening of ‘Green Paris’, a french documentary followed by a short korero framing the main themes of the film in the local context.

Green Paris - La Chapelle, a Parisian neighbourhood long defined by its isolation between two railway lines, is undergoing a remarkable green transformation. A rehabilitation program launched over 10 years ago has come to life: the once-abandoned Pajol warehouses have been converted into a self-sufficient timber complex with a library, community spaces, and an indoor garden. Across the area, new public facilities are emerging, older buildings are being restored, and new developments are taking shape. Guided by strict planning regulations, respect for heritage, and a strong ecological focus, the project reflects a holistic architectural vision: building the future from the fabric of the past.

Green Paris tells the story of a community-driven movement in which residents, architects, and sociologists share their perspectives, revealing a neighbourhood in transition.

This is the third of four part architectural documentary screenings presented as part of the Cities, People, Architecture series. The series is presented by the NZIA Wellington Branch in collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington and  Bonnifait+Associates Architects, with the support of the Embassy of France in New Zealand.
