Description

Join us for this special screening of ‘H7 Digital, a short french documentary followed by a panel discussion framing the main themes of the film in the local context.

H7 Digital - At the southern tip of Lyon’s peninsula, Halle Girard is being transformed as part of the ambitious redevelopment of the Confluence district. Once shaped by factories, warehouses, and docks, the area is now evolving into a new urban landscape while retaining traces of its industrial identity. At the heart of this transformation, three entrepreneurs have taken on the challenge of giving Halle Girard a new purpose. The project brings together more than 5,000 m² across two adjoining buildings and two levels, adapting the former industrial complex to contemporary uses. Rather than erasing the site’s history, the transformation builds upon its existing character and scale. Halle Girard becomes a symbol of Confluence’s wider transition, where Lyon’s industrial past is reinterpreted as part of its future.

A panel discussion will follow, bringing together local voices from communities and the development sector.

This is the second of four part architectural documentary screenings presented as part of the Cities, People, Architecture series. The series is presented by the NZIA Wellington Branch in collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington and  Bonnifait+Associates Architects, with the support of the Embassy of France in New Zealand.
