Newcastle East is bringing the cellar door to the city.
Brought to you by Newcastle East 2300 Precinct, City Cellar Door is a brand new wine tasting trail taking over Newcastle East for one afternoon only.
On Saturday 21 November, spend the afternoon wandering through the precinct as 7 wineries from the Hunter Valley and Orange wine regions pop up across 7 Newcastle East venues, bringing the cellar door experience out of wine country and into the heart of the city.
From 1pm–5pm, discover wines from Margan, Charteris, Mercer, Vinden, De Iuliis, Swinging Bridge and Byrne Farm, along the trail at Humbug, Ship Inn, Customs House, Bartholomews, The Great Northern, The Grain Store and The Grand.
But City Cellar Door isn't just about the wine.
Your $80 ticket includes wine tastings along the trail and a $30 food voucher to use at your choice of any of the seven participating venues on the day, so you can choose where to stop, settle in and make an afternoon of it.
You'll also discover a Pukara Estate Olive Oil tasting, with a $10 Pukara Estate voucher included in your ticket to spend on the day.
And at The Grain Store, Mercer Wines will team up with East End Ice Creamery for a special wine and ice cream pairing. East End Ice Creamery is Newcastle East's award winning local ice creamery, with nine medals to its name, making this one stop you'll definitely want to leave room for.

- Where do I start the trail?
When purchasing your ticket, you'll be asked to choose from one of three designated starting points. This is where you'll collect your Cellar Door Pack and begin your City Cellar Door experience.
The starting points are Customs House, Bartholomew's or The Grand.
Please choose carefully, as your starting point cannot be changed after booking.
- Do I have to follow a set route?
Once you've collected your Cellar Door Pack from your selected starting point, you're free to make your way through Newcastle East and experience the participating City Cellar Door stops throughout the afternoon.
We have designed this route in a loop so you can easily make your way from venue to venue.
- How does the $30 food voucher work?
Your ticket includes a $30 food voucher to use at one participating venue on the day.
You'll choose your preferred food venue when purchasing your ticket. Your voucher is valid for food purchases at your selected venue on Saturday 21 November 2026 only, cannot be redeemed for cash and no change will be given.
- Do I need to book a table for food?
Your food venue is selected when you purchase your ticket; however, venues cannot guarantee table sizes or seating. Seating will be subject to availability on the day.
- What is the Pukara Estate experience?
Pukara Estate will be joining City Cellar Door with an olive oil tasting experience. Your ticket also includes a $10 Pukara Estate voucher to spend on the day.
- What's happening at The Grain Store?
Mercer Wines and Newcastle East's award-winning East End Ice Creamery are teaming up for a special wine and ice cream pairing at The Grain Store. East End Ice Creamery has collected nine medals for its locally made ice cream, so make sure you leave room for this stop!
- Is City Cellar Door an 18+ event?
Yes. Ticket purchasers must be 18 years or older, and you may be asked to present valid identification.
- Can I get a refund or give my ticket to someone else?
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so please make sure your details and selections are correct before completing your booking.
- Will Responsible Service of Alcohol apply?
Yes. All participating venues and wineries are responsible for their own Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) obligations. Service may be refused in accordance with RSA requirements and applicable law.
