Event description

Tweed Shire Council is hosting online information sessions this October to help you learn more about the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for raising Clarrie Hall Dam.

Register here to secure your spot for the Friday 25 October session.

> Friday 25 October, 10 to 11.30 am

This is your chance to hear directly from our project experts and Council staff, ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the EIS and our project to raise the dam.

We’ll also guide you on how to make a submission on the EIS to the NSW Government, ensuring your voice is heard.

    ***

The NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has placed Council’s (EIS) on raising Clarrie Hall Dam on public exhibition. The exhibition end date is Wednesday 6 November 2024.

    > Review the EIS and make a submission to the department through the NSW Planning Portal. Council cannot receive submissions on the department’s behalf.

View a hard copy of the EIS at our face-to-face information sessions, Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads offices, and the Tweed Heads, Kingscliff and Murwillumbah libraries.

Your voice is important. The NSW Government will consider all submissions received before making a recommendation to the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, who will make the ultimate decision on whether the proposal can go ahead and what conditions would apply.

Raising the dam by 8.5 metres would almost triple its storage capacity and secure the Tweed’s water supply until at least 2065. This would ensure Council can continue to provide a safe, sustainable and affordable water supply for decades to come.
