Imagine being able to play concerts of your own inspired improvisations, or being able to collaborate with other musicians from any musical or cultural background.

This workshop shows you how to easily make use of all your classical training and experience, and without any previous experience, to start giving your imagination wings, and begin improvising your own music right away from the first minute of the workshop.

You can use these approaches to play in ensembles, or solo, for fun or as full length serious concert repertoire.

Using all the nuance, tone colour and sensitivity you already have acquired, this workshop shows you a few insights which allow you to put all your classical experience to use and improvise freely and expressively, without needing to learn years of jazz or theory.

As this approach is founded in profound compositional concepts, it  also serves as a fabulous basis for composers, whilst enriching and expanding on whatever sphere of music composition which they already feel drawn to working in.

Each workshop includes a few minutes of simple approaches to relaxation and wellbeing from our Tension Tamers! workshop series.

Rupert Guenther is a concert soloist and composer. He regularly tours, teaches and presents at conferences internationally, and has released over 35 full length albums of his own highly evocative improvisations since 2003 including 5 albums commissioned and recorded by ABC Classic FM.
