Climate Adaptation Workshop - Branxton/North Rothbury

Climate change is requiring us to review and adapt our Landcaring to safeguard the natural places we love, whether that's your property, Landcare site or local piece of bush. We also need to understand what's changing with ecological processes across our region and work together to create collaborative responses. By supporting each other, sharing our concerns, and exploring best practice, we build resilience across our region.

This workshop will be a practical day of learning, led by restoration expert, Peter Dixon, and meteorologist, Graham Creed. 

Graham will provide localised information on the climate change that is locked in and the predictions for low, medium and high carbon emission scenarios.

Peter will guide a group discussion on what you are noticing about your property or site and the impacts of changing climate. He will be sharing best practice ecological restoration techniques to address these concerns.

After lunch we will take a ten minute drive to the North Rothbury Bushcare site, home to the endangered Persoonia pauciflora and look at the impacts of climate change. We will explore possible responses to support the health and resilience of the habitats. The Plant Community Type is Lower Hunter Spotted Gum - Ironbark Forest, an important habitat for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater and other woodlands birds.

The workshop is hosted by Hunter Region Landcare Network as part of our Innovations and Partnerships program and is free to HRLN Individual and Group members or $15 for a ticket.
