    Event description

Through the COP26 Australian Pavilion, the Climate Change Authority will bring together a panel of experts from across government and other institutions to explore the concept of a "carbon bubble" in the Indo-Pacific region and discuss the opportunities and challenges it could present.

Panelists will include high-level speakers from Australia's Clean Energy Regulator and Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, as well as international guests and carbon market participants.

Moderated by the Chair of the Climate Change Authority, Mr Grant King, the discussion will focus on how Australia and its Indo-Pacific partners - including New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Fiji, Papa New Guinea and Vietnam - could leverage existing partnerships and collaborations and build on established institutional arrangements to support the development and scaling of a transparent, high integrity carbon offsets market, also known as a "carbon bubble", in the region.

The event will be held on 8 November at 8:30-10:00pm (Canberra/Sydney/Melbourne) and broadcast from 9:30-11:00am (Glasgow, United Kingdom) as part of the COP26 Australian Pavilion program of events.
