Climate action through legal drafting

This event has passed Register

Event description

How documents are drafted matters - because contractual obligations change behaviour. A panel of experienced practitioners will examine how lawyers' daily decisions impact systemic change. They will consider the impact of climate change on how solicitors give advice, and on how they craft their documents.  They'll examine the impact of climate change on the role of the modern trusted advisor and provide practical examples of climate thinking in everyday practice.

Debra Dorrington is a property lawyer who now also practices as a sustainability advocate. Nicole Xanthopol of Webb Henderson is a banking and finance lawyer with 25 years’ experience in domestic and international markets. The event is supported by Lawyers for Climate Action NZ Inc.

‍Lawyers, legal executives and others who draft legal documents are invited.
